Sierra Yazzie Asamoa-Tutu, MSW, LCSW serves as Clinical Supervisor at TribaLights, bringing over a decade of experience in trauma-informed, culturally-responsive mental health care. Her unique approach bridges indigenous wisdom with contemporary therapeutic practices, creating a profound framework for healing and transformation.

As a Diné (Navajo) practitioner, Sierra's work is deeply rooted in understanding historical trauma while honoring traditional healing pathways. Her extensive experience includes developing culturally-specific trauma therapy programs, crisis intervention, and pioneering approaches to decolonizing mental health practices.

Sierra's expertise spans multiple therapeutic modalities including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Somatic Experiencing. She has particular expertise in adapting evidence-based practices to be culturally relevant for indigenous communities.

 

Currently practicing in Gallup, NM with Presbyterian Medical Services, Sierra also maintains a consulting practice focused on implementing anti-oppressive and post-colonial mental health practices. She regularly provides training and education on topics including historical trauma, indigenous approaches to healing, and cultural adaptation of therapeutic techniques.

Sierra completed her Master of Social Work at the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University, where her research focused on healing from trauma in American Indian communities. She is a board-approved supervisor and licensed clinical social worker in New Mexico, bringing vital perspective to TribaLights' mission of integrated, culturally-informed healing.

Through her leadership, Sierra helps ensure that Lumana's therapeutic approaches remain grounded in cultural wisdom while meeting the highest standards of contemporary clinical practice. Her commitment to social justice and holistic healing aligns perfectly with our vision for transformative mental health care.
