Morning Ritual Challenge
Day 4
Does your body automatically clench when you're under stress and you just can't seem to let things go? Put down the Pinot and shake it off!
Most of us hold on to a lot of tension in the body, especially around the neck, shoulders and back area. Poor posture, traffic, conflict, sitting for extended periods of time and even negative thoughts can contribute to the build up of stress and tension in the body.
One of the quickest ways to relieve this tension from the body is to shake.
Shaking is free, can be practiced by absolutely anyone and can be done anywhere at any time of the day.
When we shake we are relaxing all our joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments, helping us to loosen up and feel relaxed. Shaking also stimulates our lymphatic system, which helps our body remove toxins.
You can think of shaking like a 'reset button' for your body.
Begin by putting on some music. You can find a playlist here.
Close your eyes and invite a gentle bounce to the body, shaking out the feet, the legs, the hips, the arms, wrists, shoulders. It doesn’t matter what it looks like. What’s important is that it feels good. It's important to remember to breathe whilst you shake.
Keeping your breathing relaxed and steady will help you to release the tension and loosen up your body even further.
The more time you spend shaking the more benefits you will get!
At first shaking even for a few minutes can be very powerful. As you practice more you can work your way up to shaking for 10-15 minutes.
We hope you enjoy today’s practice!
